At 18, I stumbled across The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey in our family bookshelf. I was shocked (and thrilled) that I could feel and behave so differently just from reading a book. Ever since, I’ve been hooked on self-development. Of course, not all changes were so concrete – and I did, over time, take backward steps.

One question I’ve asked repeatedly is – why don’t we learn this at school? After all, you’re not going to maximise your success if, for example, you don’t believe you can. For an in-depth example, see this article on the Growth Mindset. It almost feels unfair to leave these concepts out of curriculums.

This is why traditional subjects like maths or science are just a small part of the education we need. Not learning about our minds is like fuelling a car that isn’t properly tuned. It’s unnecessarily hard wearing and inefficient. So I founded Improvement Savvy as a place where people can learn self-improvement.
